Early Beginnings
Ever since hitting my first shot with my father at the age of eleven, I was hooked!
I went on to represent England at the age of fourteen in the under 18s girls team, I was the youngest player at the time. I represented England in the junior, schools and ladies team and also represented Great Britain & Ireland. At the age of fourteen I played off of a scratch and by sixteen +2 handicap.
Turning Pro
In 1991 I turned professional and played on the Ladies European Tour. I remember playing in my 1st tournament the Italian Open in Rome, feeling rather nervous! However I was over the moon to have made the cut and earned my 1st pay cheque. I played on tour full time for two years, which was a great experience. I then decided to do my PGA Training, in 1996 I qualified as a PGA Professional.
Since 2007 I’ve been a PGA teaching professional at Woodhall Spa The National Golf Centre.
Academy / Performance Centre
The extensive practice facilities at Woodhall Spa include a four acre short game area, a covered 18 bay driving range, grass tee areas, an indoor swing analysis room, a conference room, a strength and conditioning unit and an indoor putting room. This is one of the most comprehensive golf training centres in Europe and the coaching programmes are available to all.
As the home of England Golf, the national squads (and many others) regularly take advantage of our unrivalled facilities. Over the years, England Golf’s investment coaching for up-and-coming golfers and has produced many of the top English players on the European Tour such as Justin Rose, Danny Willett, Tyrrell Hatton and Matt Wallace.
Short Game Area
Our four-acre specialist short-game area has a large USGA specification practice green, 6 chipping greens, an approach green and 6 bunkers of varying shape. In addition, we have one more outdoor coaching green, two practice greens and a chipping green with bunkers. All areas are maintained to the highest standards, and reflective of the greens you will find on our courses.
There is no better place to improve your short game.
Hotchkin Course
The Hotchkin Course at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, is consistently rated among the world’s finest heathland golf experiences and a favourite destination for golf breaks.
Woodhall Spa’s Hotchkin course was described as “one of golf’s supreme shotmaking tests” as it was named the 54th best course in the world in Golf magazine’s benchmark ranking.
Bracken Course
Created by Donald Steel, one of Britain’s foremost golf course architects of the modern era, The Bracken Course, which opened in 1998, has evolved into a course of exceptional finesse that is appreciated and enjoyed every day by golfers of all abilities.

Short Game Golf School 2025
Delivered on the world-class short game area at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa.
Alison will educate you with the finer points of chipping, pitching, bunker shots and putting through-out the day in a group environment of 6 golfers.

World Transplant Games
In December 2008 I became very ill where an unknown virus was attacking my liver in January 2009 I was given 5 days left to live with out a liver transplant and on my final day luckily for me I had my life saving liver transplant. I am forever great full to my donor and family.
I have been fortunate enough to have been selected to represent Team GB in the world transplant games which is played every two years. I have played in the last three world games – 2015 Argentina / 2017 Malaga / 2019 Newcastle.
I have won the gold medal in the last 3 world games for my age category, I’m currently world champion. So a new challenge for my own golf game!
